This is a mature and challenging 18 holes golf course carved out of natural jungle terrain. The first nine is situated along the South China Sea while the second nine revolves around lush tropical rainforest. Here you are with nature. Monkeys are plentiful. You can see them around most of the fairways, greens and even at the clubhouse. Quite a few monkeys are now proud owners of handphones and pagers, thanks to unwary golfers who left these items unattended in the golf buggies.

Since this course was carved out of jungle terrain, one has to be careful when finding wayward balls in the bushes, for who knows what may lurk in there! If you are not a straight hitter, be sure to bring plenty of balls.

The Desaru Golf & Country Resort is located at Tanjung Penawar, about 88 kilometres north east of Johor Bahru & directions are well signposted. From Singapore there are three main routes
- the causeway through Johor Bahru. Time about 1hour 15 minutes
- the second link through Gelang Patah. Time about 1 hour 45 minutes
- ferry from Changi Ferry Terminal. Time by ferry to Tanjong Belungkor about 40 minutes and then another 30 minutes by car to the golf course.
