Perhaps the most prestigious Golf Club is the Singapore Island Country Club. Many prominent business men and Statesmen are members and it's exclusivity is the reason why this is one of the most sought after golf clubs. It is the second oldest club in Singapore and has 4 x 18 hole golf courses at two separate locations. Many major International Championships have been held here.
The New Course, carved out of virgin jungle, was first opened in 1965 but recently, holes have been reorganised and new ones added so that the two nines return to the Island Location Club-house off Thomson Road. It is long at 6318 metres and is liked for its natural terrain, wildlife and rainforest.
The Island Course is the shortest 18-hole golf course. Both nines start and finish with very similar holes but Holes 9 and 18 are potential card wreckers as well. Weaving through an avenue of old trees, the course is picturesque and hilly.
